Data Source
The original source of SBA loan data SBA DNA collects and continually updates is derived solely from data released by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA collects individual loan data from the SBA lender/bank approving and providing the loan.

Data Integrity
As with most big datasets, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) reported data is imperfect, relying on a bank representative to accurately input the data that the SBA then uses to make public through the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requirements. Sometimes data points can have an erroneous entry for attributing a loan to the wrong franchise brand or NAICS code.

No Warranty of Data Accuracy or Completeness
Neither the SBA or SBA DNA validates or verifies the data the lenders provide. Accordingly, SBA DNA or our affiliate websites, does not make any representation as to the completeness or accuracy of the SBA loan data the SBA provides, therefore SBA DNA bears no responsibility for the content herein.

Forecast Model
Forecasting is used to make predictions for specific future time periods. Our forecast model is based on Holt-Winters Forecasting model a.k.a. Triple Exponential Smoothing. The forecast is calculated as a weighted average of all historical data and recent data is weighted exponentially higher than older data. The Holt’s Linear Trend or Holt-Winters method is based on either additive or multiplicative components. The AI-powered platform internally calculates results by both algorithms and shows the best results of the two (additive or multiplicative).

Sectors and Industries
SBADNA takes the 6 digit NAICS industry code assigned to each SBA loan in the SBA FOIA datasets and connects the first two digits of the code to determine the Sector, the first three digits to determine the Sub-sector, and the first four digits to determine the Industry Group.

No Affiliation
SBA DNA is a private company that is not affiliated with the U.S. Small Business Administration nor with any franchise brands.
